Istria is called the ‘Terra Magica’. It is a true cultural mosaic whose heritage comes from the Histrians, Celts, Romans through to the Byzantines, Slavs and Venetians. And all the way to the Austro-Hungarian Empire!
Since the end of WW2, it’s a region in Croatia. Check out YouTube video…
Also, Istria is feast for the eyes. Its streams flow to the sea through deep valleys and hills, so landscape invites you for easy-going travel. Istrian soil and climate is perfect mach for vineyards and olive groves. Year-after-year Istria is awarded as Best Olive Oil Region in the World.
Here you can enjoy spoon of minestrone soup with broad beans or a delicious truffle (pasta, cheese etc)→ Istrian cuisine
Istrian prosciutto is now in ‘a league of its own’. Fragrant drops of the native ‘Malvazija Istarska’ white wine or ruby-coloured ‘Teran’ wine – is a must!
Truffle seasons: BLACK truffle (May-October) – WHITE truffle (September-January)
Istrian truffle hunting experience was recommended by New York Times (read article)
